Weekend Flowers

I couldn't resist the stunning iris' on Friday night as I made my way through the markets. The pink roses were also begging me to take them home!

Whilst my husband is on STRICT instructions never to bring home carnations (I'm sorry, there appeal for me died with the 80's), I surprised myself and fell for the prettiest bunch of pale pink ones. Perhaps it's when they are in multicoloured bunches, or placed on a lapel that I can't stand them. Alone in single coloured bunches, they are bearable, or perhaps it was just {this} colour pink that I feel in love with? Whatever it is, they do look pretty in the centre of our dining table.

Hope you had a great weekend. Here's to the next one!

Weekend Flowers

It's been a while since I posted any pics of our weekend flowers (sorry about that)!

On Friday night I stopped in at the little flower stall in the Wanchai market and bought myself a bunch of white orchids. The best bit about them, aside from how pretty they look, is that they only cost me $12 HK dollars (that's less than $2 Aus dollars). I guess they grow in abundance in Asia, and so they aren't expensive. Gotta love that!

I was doubly spoilt on the weekend though, cause my lovely husband bought me home a bunch of flowers on Saturday after he finished work. No pics sorry, the weather was rather gloomy on the weekend and I couldn't seem to get sufficient light to get a good pic:( The one above I took early Sat morning (before I received the other bunch!)

I {heart} fresh blooms in the house!!!

Happy Monday peeps!

Weekend Flowers

Now that the weather is getting cooler we are starting to see some of the cool climate flowers coming into season. Hooray!

Lucky for me, there was one bunch of tulips left on Saturday morning when I did my weekly flower shop (I couldn't make it on Friday night cause we were meeting friends for dinner and picking CoCo up from the doggie spa where she spent her afternoon being pampered! What a life...).

I nabbed the tulips and a bunch of the most vibrant purple Asiatic lillies I have ever seen. Well, I tell a lie... they haven't opened yet but from the outside, it looks as though they will be the brightest most vibrant purple colour I have ever seen, and I can't wait.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend and getting on top of all the Christmas prep. So far I have managed to knock a few things off my list, as well as fitting in a little time for relaxation!

Weekend Flowers

Something a little different this weekend, PURPLE flowers! Not my usual/natural choice (you know how much I love pink!), but nonetheless, aren't they pretty?

The peonies have finally opened up and are looking as gorgeous as ever.

Happy weekend to you!

Last weeks roses

Remember last week I bought those gorgeous pink roses? They smelt divine all week, so when I was in the market on Friday night I couldn't resist buying another 2 bunches. You don't often come across beautiful scented roses these days, so when you do, you should make the most of them, right!

Anyway, I wasn't ready to part with the old bunch so I ripped off the petals and had myself a very rosy bath.

Weekend Flowers

Sorry I am a bit late posting this weekend. I haven't stopped since Friday night!

I did get a chance to pop into the market and grab my weekend flowers, and aren't they divine! I just LOVE peonies, don't you? As the weather is getting a little cooler here, we are starting to see some of the gorgeous winter blooms come into season.

I look forward to sharing many more peonies with you in the coming months!

Weekend Flowers

Last night on my way home through the markets I couldn't resist the beautiful pink roses. I also bought a bunch of sunflowers, which I wouldn't normally cause they aren't one of my favs, but I did on this occasion cause they looked so bright and cheery!

The apartment is now full of fresh flowers, which is just the way I like it!

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday.

Weekend Flowers

Sorry it has taken me till Monday to post my Weekend Flowers! Slack aren't I!!

The past weekend we enjoyed some beautiful yellow orchids, lovely bright pink spray roses, and some ole fav lillies! The apartment was full of colour, and lovely flowery smells! Speaking of flowery smells, it won't be long till we get our Chrissy tree, I just LOVE the smell of pine in the house for the whole of December. It is so Christmassy and fresh!

Happy Monday! xox

Weekend Flowers

Yesterday when walking home from the market I had a little internal battle as to whether or not to stop in and visit my beautiful flower stall and buy my weekend flowers. You see, the flowers I bought last Friday as still looking as gorgeous as ever and I didn't think it was fair to steal their thunder.

I decided against the purchase and wandered home empty handed (well one hand was full of my C&E supplies so I wasn't completely deprived!).

I did however take on board the lovely Karen's comment (thanks so much for all your comments Karen - keep em' coming), and transferred the little beauties into a colourful vase. What do you think?

I think Karen was spot on and I happened to have just the right vase for it! Call me extravagant (or perhaps stupid) but a while ago I spotted this gorgeous pink vase in a pic on the amazing Anna Spiro's blog - http://absolutelybeautifulthings.blogspot.com/ I just had to have it, and so I asked the very helpful gals at Black & Spiro to wrap it up and send it over to me. For those who don't know, Black & Spiro is located in Brisbane, Queensland which is where I come from - so yeap, I had a vase shipped to me in Hong Kong all the way from my home town. Oh, it was totally worth it and I am absolutely in love with it! Thanks Anna

I also used the vase to display some gorgeous pink roses (can you tell my fav colour is pink!) when we had our Housewarming / My Birthday party back in September. I will try to dig out a pic and share it with you all!

If you haven't done so already, you simply must go and check out Anna's blog - but be warned, it is addictive!

Weekend Flowers

I always love to fill the house with flowers for the weekend, but this weekend I went where I hadn't dare go before (as far as flowers are concerned that is)!

I have often looked at these bright (I dare say "artificially" so) flowers in the market and thought how awful and fake they look. For some reason, I felt different this past Friday and wondered how the bright colours would go all mixed together... well, I have to report - I was impressed!

Living in Hong Kong we are blessed to have a huge variety of flowers available in the markets at super affordable prices. That's right boys, there is NO excuse in Hong Kong not to treat your gal to flowers every week! As a point of comparison, a dozen roses in Hong Kong would set you back about $15Aus (and that's for long stem - gorgeous colours). Not bad hey!

The flowers must have set the mood for the long weekend, cause it certainly was bright & cheery! I will definitely be purchasing these little beauties again.
